Crockett (Texas) wide receiver Dominique Wheeler committed to Texas Tech on Friday. The Rivals100/ESPN150 prospect, announced his decision on Facebook, and acknowledged that his choice may "shock" some of his friends.
Wheeler committed to Tech on Friday. "I was liking TCU at first, everybody knew that," Wheeler said. "I went up to Tech this weekend and I liked the people, the coaches, the players -- I got to hang out with all the players -- and it changed my mind about what college I wanted to go to.
"I like (offensive administrative assistant) Jason Reed, they call him Diesel, he was the guy that showed me everything on campus, he was always with me everywhere I went on campus. They treated me real well, I liked it."
Wheeler said offensive line coach Matt Moore and offensive coordinator Neal Brown were the two members of the Red Raiders' coaching staff that he spoke with the most.
"Coach Moore, Matt Moore, was recruiting me," Wheeler said. "He's a real good guy. He always kept in touch with me, sending me stuff in the mail, asking how I was doing, messaging me on Facebook..
"Coach Brown, we message each other almost every day on Facebook, always keep in touch with each other. He's always checking up on me, asking how I'm doing, how my family is doing and everything."
During his visit to Tech earlier this week, the 6-foot-1, 176-pound standout had a chance to meet one of the program's first 2012 commits -- Abilene (Texas) Cooper quarterback Clayton Nicholas. Wheeler said the two hit if off from the beginning.
"It was good," he said. "That's the quarterback for my class that's committed there, got to hung out with him, got know him a lot. He can throw. He can throw left or right-handed, that's what I like. He's a real good quarterback. I'm glad to have him."
Wheeler, ranked by Rivals.com as the No. 66 player in the 2012 class, chose the Red Raiders from a trio of finalists that included Oklahoma State and TCU. He also held offers from Auburn, Clemson, Michigan, Missouri, Texas, Texas A&M and many others.
The kid on the right is wheeler. We took him to hooters for recruitment. hahaha

Well as of about 2 hours ago...
Texas Tech has gained a Class of 2012 commitment from Ryan Flannigan, a three-star linebacker for Marshall HS (Missouri City, Texas).
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound prospect recently decommitted from Baylor.
He was also offered by Arizona, Indiana Arizona State, Arkansas, Boise State, Houston, Kansas, Louisiana Tech, Minnesota, Oregon State, San Diego State, West Virginia and Western Kentucky.
Flannigan is the 15th pledge for the Red Raiders.
Ryan Flannigan Look at his offer list... Pretty solid for a 3*. SCOUT.COM also ranks him as a 3* and the 42 best Linebacker in the country. ESPN ranks him as the 39th best linebacker in the country.
You can give credit to the recent interest in big time recruits due to the fact Tubs and co have had 4 camps recently. 2 in Dallas and 2 in Houston, one of them was actually at Cy-Ridge.
Tuberville is really doing the things our past coach never did. He believes that recruiting is the lifeblood of college football. Get ready for something BIG in the future.

Just FYI... to get a picture of how good this class should be. PRIOR to Wheeler the 5* WR and Flannigan commiting today ESPN ranked our current 2012 class as the 16th best in the country.

I was looking at that insider chart as well, we were 14th the other day (which was unfortunately still 4th in the big 12)
