As long as Texas and OU are still in it, I can see The Big Fuck-up replacing whatever schools that leave with new schools. But in the words of Hance at commencement, "Leave it to a Red Raider to get it done."

I don't see how this would be a media respect type of thing. They don't give schools special coverage because bias exists, but blatanly omitting a school from a story to give that University the finger? I don't think so.

Hance simply hasn't folded his cards yet.

No, he only answers emails from his stationary bike, and it's nothing to retort, but Hance has a solid footing in Austin. I doubt Hance has the balls to venture out on his own and bring Tech with him, but he definitely has the ambition.

Contrary to what has been reported elsewhere, Texas Tech has not signed off on or agreed to any deal with the Big 12, according to a high ranking official with knowledge of the situation.

There appear to be a couple of points in the new deal Tech has issues with, namely the rumored revenue sharing plan and the unequal distribution of Colorado and Nebraska's buyout penalty to Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma.

"If the fine money to be paid out goes to those three schools, that doesn't pass the smell test," said the source.

Under the proposed payout, each school in the league is due to receive $2 million each from the $20 million owed by the two exiting schools. Under Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe's proposal, the five Big 12 schools that were to be left behind would sacrifice their share and have that money paid out to Texas, A&M and OU. In that situation, those schools would receive $5.3 million, while Tech and Oklahoma State would receive $2 million.

The source also said Chancellor Kent Hance was in the metroplex area yesterday and attempted to contact Beebe to meet in person, but the commissioner never returned his call.

Tech appears to have serious issues the three tier revenue system which would reportedly put Texas, A&M and OU at the top tier; Tech and Oklahoma State in the middle tier and the other schools in the third tier. "That type of tier system is not the way to start off this new conference," the official explained.

The bottom line is this - until Tech officials see the entire deal on paper, they will not sign off on the deal.

"Texas Tech always has options and they will always do what's best in the interest of Texas Tech," said the source. "Dan Beebe has an obligation to do what's fair for all of the schools in the conference. He needs to think about being a good commissioner, not about saving his job."

On Monday, Texas Tech asked Commissioner Beebe for a copy of the proposed plan or any sort of details regarding the new proposal, but the Big 12 has yet to comply with their request.
